As a graduate of Stanton College Preparatory High School, I then went on to the University of Florida and received a B.A. in Political Science.

During my last semester in Gainesville, I contemplated whether or not I wanted to return to my hometown.  The reason?  I was afraid.  I was afraid for not only my life, but for the life of my daughter as well.  I feared that I would one day stand and watch not my baby girl reading her book on her bed, but rather my hopes and dreams for her die and pass away because of a stray bullet hitting her, much like that of Shenice Holmes (the 13yr old girl that was killed in her room in 2006).

Having just graduated from college, I am ready for action.  I am energized, enthused, and committed to the community!  I am ready to contradict those that feel that my generation has nothing to offer positively to society, and refer to us as "lost".

Through my experience as City Council District 10’s intern and my current appointment as the District 10 Representative to the Northwest Citizen’s Planning Advisory Committee, I am here to show that what was once lost, can still be found!

I long for a time when neighborhoods in District 10 will bloom with only flowers and not aggression.  I long for a time when the District 10 community will have the same social and economic opportunities afforded to us as other more prominent communities in the city have.
